Monday dawned bright and beautiful!! The lake we are on is known for its fish, so Jeremy and I were both determined to catch a 'big' fish! We headed out after breakfast to try a new spot to see if we could find the fish. We found this really cool looking inlet that lead to what seemed like a private lake. There was only one farm house on the lake. We fished there for a while, but with no success.
After lunch we headed into the town of Battle Lake for some necessities, like ice cream and milk. Ice cream is a necessity, right??? We found out that the town is called Battle Lake because it was where many battles look place between different Indian tribes.
While in town we also picked up some different lures for fishing. Last but not least we stopped at Dairy Queen for a nice cold treat.
We, Jeremy and I were very eager to get out on the lake and try our new lures. The kids were not so keen on fishing again...apparently they only like fishing when the fish are literally flying into the boat. None the less we went back out on the lake - the first fish I caught was a very tiny bass that had to be thrown back. Then Jeremy caught a really nice Bass! It was about 12 inches long and put up a nice fight for him. This was his first big fish EVER! Very Exciting!! Sarah fell asleep on my lap shortly after that...tired girl!
After dinner the kids were watching a movie, and saw a Blue Heron land on the dock. Then the bird decided that it wanted to climb on our boat. The kids thought that was cool.
