Last Sunday we took full advantage of the break in the rain and went to the apple orchard. It was a wonderful, crisp, fall afternoon and the kids had a blast.
Our main goal was to get some eating apples and some baking apples. And of course to just have a fun afternoon out as a family. We picked some Chestnut Crabs, which are sweet little eating apples that are just perfect for kids. Then we found some Honeycrisp apples that were so big, one apple filled our hand. They were HUGE! Lastly we found our Haralson apples used for baking.
Everyone had so much fun picking, we finished in no time at all. It would have been scary to see how many apples we could have come home with if we had just let them pick till they were done! Enjoy our pictures.
Ready with our baskets for picking:
Sampling the apples - Yummy!!
Sarah picked this one all by herself!
I could not believe how many apples were on these trees - they almost looked like the branches were going to break! They had a great crop this year!!
Michael found a little lady bug on the apple tree:
After we had picked our apples and paid for them, we went on a tractor ride around the orchard. The tractor driver took a picture of us all before we left - not the greatest picture, but beggars can't be choosers:-)
There was a maze made out of shrubs that the kids had fun playing in...
A totally fun afternoon!
