London - Day 3 Road Trip!

Day 3 in London, we took off early in the morning for our road trip throughout the countryside of London.

Here is Jeremy, driving on the 'wrong' side of the car on the 'wrong' side of the road! It was kind of weird to sit in the passenger seat there and feel like it should be the drivers seat.

We drove for about 2 hours to the town of Warwick to tour a castle and see the town.
There was a quaint little garden behind the public parking lot where we parked.

Another phone booth we found on our way to the castle.
Love the stone behind it!

After a short walk from the car, we reached the Castle - It was so cool to be in a castle, touring around the grounds which included, skinny staircases, towers, dungeons and great halls. I hope my collection of pictures can give a little taste of what we experienced.

Once we were done at the Castle we walked around the town of Warwick for a while, there were so many old buildings there that looked so cool.

One of our favorite style of buildings was wood beams with stucco.
We saw them many places, over time, the wood beams warp and bend then they just looks so neat. Of course these weren't all next to each other, but these are the neat ones we found in Warwick.

We got a kick out of the name of this Butcher shop!
Rumps the Butcher

Beautiful Street

There was a place where two streets came together at an angle and formed a triangular point and on this point was the most adorable row of flats with gardens in front! It looked like a movie set it was so perfect!

While walking around we also found St. Mary's church and the cemetery around it. At first it seemed weird to be walking around the cemetery and taking pictures, but it was so peaceful and calm. It was so perfectly taken care of, yet the stones kind of had a mind of their own and were not standing straight anymore. Most of them had been there so long and were so weathered that you couldn't even read what they said anymore.

When we were done there, we got back in the car and headed about 30 minutes north to visit a good friend of mine, Sarah and her husband James in Coventry. I met Sarah about 15 years ago when she came to the states as an au pair and ended up coming to our church. We hit it off right away and even though she was only in the states for a little more than a year, we have stayed in contact with each other. The last time I saw her and her husband was about 7 years ago when they came to the states to visit. It was so surreal to go and visit her at her house, I always wanted to make it to London to see her, but didn't think I would actually get the chance.

We spent the night at their house, had some yummy food and had a wonderful time visiting. We also got to meet their new baby Zachary who was born in May. He is a perfect mix of the both of them and adorable!

Thank you Sarah, James and Baby Zachary!

  1. The pictures of the castle in Warwick are very cool, but to know you got to see your friend from 15 years ago in her home town? Super cool!! What an experience - the whole thing. LOVE looking at your photos and seeing London and the surrounding areas in your eyes.
